True's Yard IT tutor, Jim Mitchell, with another delighted group of students who have completed the basic skills course for computing and produced their own calendar as part of the course work.

Below is the model of the old Northend based on a map dated 1881. It was made by Frederick Hall and took over 500 hours to complete. It reconstructs in amazing detail the strees and yards which went to make up the area, which was home to over 900 people.

The IT room at the museum which is available to many groups of users for teaching basic computer skills, has been completely upgraded, with the latest equipment, and  more advanced courses in digital photography and use of the Internet have already begun and are well subscribed.  The Teaching Room has similarly been refurbished and with its screen, projection and Broadband Internet facilities, is already being used by various bodies for meetings etc.

The project to digitise the museums extensive photographic archives (they contain in excess of 6,000 pictures) has now been completed.  This has been made possible through the generous help of a Norfolk Trust, which has provided the necessary funds critical  for this programmes success.  The Modes data system for accessioning and archiving is to be used for this vital task, and full training in this procedure has taken place recently at the museum.

The strong emotional links between True's Yard with its Northend roots, and St Nicholas' Chapel which is so much a part of it, are being strengthened, and there are many issues being discussed as to the best way to combine the strengths of these two organisations. Involving local schools in their development is key to this.
